Michael Tokiwa, DVM
Michael “Dr. T” Tokiwa is the owner and Medical Director at The Animal Hospital. A self proclaimed CanAsian, he graduated from The Atlantic Veterinary College in beautiful Prince Edward Island. His passion has always been to change the landscape of the profession: embracing the latest technologies, medical and management changes that not only help improve the medicine we practice, but also help with the quality and lifestyle of the people within the profession.
Dr. Tokiwa is also a media personality. As host of Your Pet Matters Radio show Saturday mornings at 10AM, he brings the people that treat, train and help your pets into your living rooms. HIs YouTube videos provide a great viewing experience into the lives of those who treat and increase the human animal bond of our furry legged family members.
Outside of work, his interests are varied. Equally permeating his life are the joy of Family, pets and music, and exploring new projects and hobbies. He’s equally at home riding his motorcycle, playing Nerf /Anki/video games with his son, jamming on his drum kit, or jogging with his Golden, Holly.
Jessie Feges, VMD
Dr. Jessie Ann Feges is originally from Boston, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BSc in Biology. Her veterinary training took place at the University of Pennsylvania, and it was during that time she garnered an interest in veterinary emergency medicine. Dr. Feges works at Animerge, a local 24 hour referral center. Jessie lives in NJ with her fiancé, their Great Dane, Piper (pictured with her), and their cat, Domino. When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Feges can be found reading, horseback riding or traveling.
Cyndi is NJ born and raised, and has been in the veterinary profession for over 19 years. She is currently a surgery technician with our friends at Animerge, and kindly spends some of her free time helping out at our practice. When not working, Cyndi loves to cook, be on the beach, working out at the gym, singing and driving her jeep with her boxer Jamie and cat Chai are her copilots.
Tamara Maehr, DVM
Dr. Tamara Maehr was born and raised in New Jersey. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers university in 2003. Dr. Maehr had a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry for numerous years before, ultimately deciding to follow her true passion caring and attending to animals. In 2013 Dr. Maehr earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Oklahoma State University, her medical interests include dentistry, pain management, & dermatology. In her leisure time, Dr. Maehr enjoys running, watching cinematic movies & spending time with her cat Nala and her two dogs Winnie & Bailey.
Veronica has been in the veterinary field for ten years and has a passion for all things animal related. She is experienced in pet handling, administering anesthesia, hospital management, and client education. When she is not working with animals you can find Veronica at the dance studio teaching salsa classes, rehearsing with her semi-pro team, and lifting weights at the gym. Veronica spends a lot of time with her husband and 8 year old daughter, enjoying all kinds of outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, snowboarding and much more. Her dog Daenarys Stormborn normally joins the family in all of their adventures. They also share their home with 2 cats, a guinea pig, and a fish.

Diane grew up in and lives in Pennington, NJ. She shares her home with her husband, her two boys,
2 cats, 1 bird and 4 hermit crabs. Diane has been in the veterinary field since 1996. She loves to spend the outdoor adventures with her family camping, biking, and kayaking, and is learning to crochet.
Nancy Sung, VMD
Dr. Sung grew up in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in English. She attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania for her VMD. Her veterinary interests include emergency and critical care, cardiology and soft tissue surgery. Outside of work she loves to spend time with her husband Ben and twins Nathan and Elise. She also enjoys reading fiction novels, traveling internationally and playing the guitar and piano. She has 1 dog named Sandy. Dr. Sung loves to watch HGTV, especially the House Hunters series!
Andrea Freeman, VMD
Dr. Freeman grew up in Tewksbury, New Jersey. She received her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in Biology and Anthropology. She received a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in Conservation Biology/Wildlife Health and Parasitology. She then attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania for her VMD. Her veterinary interests include emergency medicine, surgery, and internal medicine. Outside of work she enjoys gardening, playing the piano, traveling and spending time with her family. Her four legged family includes three dogs; Annie, a 13 year old black lab, Goofy, a 13 year old beagle/basset mix and Jack, a 1 year old Shih Tzu, and SIX cats; Speedbump, C.C., Cindy Lou, BobCat, Pip Squeak and Meepers!
Peter Betz, DVM
Dr. Betz is a graduate of Michigan State University. His interests include small animals, pocket pets, reptiles and exotics. He believes in a team approach to veterinary medicine and providing high quality care. When not practicing Peter enjoys his hobbies of gardening, beekeeping and growing coral, and spends much of his free time with his family.
Jennifer Bruce, DVM
Dr. Bruce grew up in Queens, New York, where she went to Bronx High School of Science. Her first job was at 16 years old at the Bronx zoo! She received her undergraduate degree from Concordia College in biology. She attended North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine for her DVM. Her veterinary interests include surgery, dentistry and feline medicine. Outside of work she likes to travel, travel, travel! She also enjoys fitness, music and spending time with her husband. She has one rescue kittie named Toonces. Dr. Bruce does freely admit that she has a serious shoe obsession!
Emily has always had an affinity for animals since she was a little girl. Growing up on a farm in Ringoes, NJ, Emily has cared for everything from horses to goats to pet rats. Emily currently resides in Branchburg with her husband Michael, their 4 cats Charlie, Cricket, Peaches, Maude and their beloved American Pit Bull Terrier, Bane. In her spare time Emily volunteers for a local animal shelter, enjoys spending time with her family and friends and photography.
