Jessie Feges, VMD
Dr. Jessie Ann Feges is originally from Boston, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BSc in Biology. Her veterinary training took place at the University of Pennsylvania, and it was during that time she garnered an interest in veterinary emergency medicine. Dr. Feges works at Animerge, a local 24 hour referral center. Jessie lives in NJ with her fiancé, their Great Dane, Piper (pictured with her), and their cat, Domino. When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Feges can be found reading, horseback riding or traveling.
Jennifer Bruce, DVM
Dr. Bruce grew up in Queens, New York, where she went to Bronx High School of Science. Her first job was at 16 years old at the Bronx zoo! She received her undergraduate degree from Concordia College in biology. She attended North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine for her DVM. Her veterinary interests include surgery, dentistry and feline medicine. Outside of work she likes to travel, travel, travel! She also enjoys fitness, music and spending time with her husband. She has one rescue kittie named Toonces. Dr. Bruce does freely admit that she has a serious shoe obsession!
has been in the veterinary field since 2014. She attended Boston University for two semesters and transfer to Union County College where she is pursuing her Degree in Legal Studies. Keyla enjoys softball and spending time with her loved ones. She has 2 beautiful Siberian huskies and a pit bull named Hoggy.
Kimberly Weisner, DVM
Dr. Weisner grew up in South Brunswick, New Jersey. She received her undergraduate degree from Cook College of Rutgers University in Animal Science/Pre-veterinary Medicine. She attended Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine for her DVM. Her veterinary interests include nutrition and dermatology. Outside of work she loves to spend time with her husband Chris, who is also a veterinarian, and two children, Michael and Emily. She also enjoys baking, wine tasting, going to the shore, kayaking and playing basketball. She has a West Highland White Terrier named Molly, a Cairn terrier named Charlie, Steven who is a Senegal parrot and fish. What a packed house! When she can, Dr. Weisner likes to close the blinds and sneak in an exercise DVD at home when no one else is watching, however it can be a tough feat!
Dawn Filos, VMD
Dr. Filos grew up in Rutherford, NJ. She received a BS in Biochemistry from Cook College/Rutgers. She received a MS in Renal Physiology from the University of Georgia. She received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include internal medicine, dermatology and client education. She teaches courses in Pet First Aid at nearby community colleges, and has recently started a blog/website, askthepetvet.com. She has a 3 year old Cavanese named India and an aquatic frog named Scottie. She enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children, traveling, fitness and yoga. She also runs a move club and oil paints.
Vanessa grew up in Great Neck NY but recently relocated to Hamilton NJ. She has worked in the veterinary field since she was 16 years old and is a true animal lover! Her experiences range from day practice to several years at a specialty center in New York. When not working Vanessa loves to travel and spend quality time with her family.
Veronica has been in the veterinary field for ten years and has a passion for all things animal related. She is experienced in pet handling, administering anesthesia, hospital management, and client education. When she is not working with animals you can find Veronica at the dance studio teaching salsa classes, rehearsing with her semi-pro team, and lifting weights at the gym. Veronica spends a lot of time with her husband and 8 year old daughter, enjoying all kinds of outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, snowboarding and much more. Her dog Daenarys Stormborn normally joins the family in all of their adventures. They also share their home with 2 cats, a guinea pig, and a fish.
Michael Tokiwa, DVM
Dr. Tokiwa (Dr. T) is the owner and a Medical Director at The Animal Hospital. He grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He received his undergraduate degree from McMaster University in Biochemistry, and obtained graduate training in the field of neuroscience. He attended Atlantic Veterinary College in beautiful Prince Edward Island for his DVM. His passion involves changing the profession, embracing the technological, medical and management changes that will improve the medicine we practice and the service we provide. He constantly strives to find ways of providing affordable, quality healthcare. Schedule an appointment with him today to learn more! His staff is very thankful that he also strives to improve the lifestyles of those involved in the profession. Dr. Tokiwa is also the owner and Medical Director of Progressive Veterinary Solutions, a company to create opportunities to help other professionals. On Saturday morning, Dr. T is the host of Your Pet Matters, the only radio show dedicated to pet health in Mercer County.
Outside of work, his interests are varied. Equally permeating his life are his family, pets and music, whether he is playing his drums or listening to a great track. Family time is his most valued time, though he likes to occasionally get out on his bikes, mountain and motorcycle! He is for sure the Apple expert of the practice, but in general loves to learn about new technologies. He loves to barbeque the old fashioned charcoal way. He is completely at home watching cartoons with his son, making pancakes on the weekends, singing songs while making up his own lyrics, taking the occasional photo, or just running with his four legged daughter Holly.
Andrea Freeman, VMD
Dr. Freeman grew up in Tewksbury, New Jersey. She received her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in Biology and Anthropology. She received a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in Conservation Biology/Wildlife Health and Parasitology. She then attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania for her VMD. Her veterinary interests include emergency medicine, surgery, and internal medicine. Outside of work she enjoys gardening, playing the piano, traveling and spending time with her family. Her four legged family includes three dogs; Annie, a 13 year old black lab, Goofy, a 13 year old beagle/basset mix and Jack, a 1 year old Shih Tzu, and SIX cats; Speedbump, C.C., Cindy Lou, BobCat, Pip Squeak and Meepers!
Emily has always had an affinity for animals since she was a little girl. Growing up on a farm in Ringoes, NJ, Emily has cared for everything from horses to goats to pet rats. Emily currently resides in Branchburg with her husband Michael, their 4 cats Charlie, Cricket, Peaches, Maude and their beloved American Pit Bull Terrier, Bane. In her spare time Emily volunteers for a local animal shelter, enjoys spending time with her family and friends and photography.
Born and raised in Cranford, NJ, Andrea just recently moved to the area. Being an avid animal lover all her life and working in animal hospitals, she went to and graduated veterinary technician school and is currently studying for her VTNE to become a CVT. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with family and friends, her boyfriend and fur babies - a puggle named Roxy and 3 cats Mama, Moosh and Troubles.
Diane grew up in and lives in Pennington, NJ. She shares her home with her husband, her two boys,
2 cats, 1 bird and 4 hermit crabs. Diane has been in the veterinary field since 1996. She loves to spend the outdoor adventures with her family camping, biking, and kayaking, and is learning to crochet.
Peter Betz, DVM
Dr. Betz is a graduate of Michigan State University. His interests include small animals, pocket pets, reptiles and exotics. He believes in a team approach to veterinary medicine and providing high quality care. When not practicing Peter enjoys his hobbies of gardening, beekeeping and growing coral, and spends much of his free time with his family.
Kaitlyn is our Hospital Administrator. She is a graduate of Rutger’s University Animal Science Program and went on to obtain her Associates in Applied Science and Certified Veterinary Technician Degree from Bergen County Community College. She has been a key player to the Progressive Veterinary Care Family of Animal Hospitals for almost a decade and has helped to maintain the wonderful environment for you and your pets. Kaitlyn loves working with our patients and clients and will still have clinic hours, but will also help Dr. Tokiwa with the daily management duties of the practice.
Nancy Sung, VMD
Dr. Sung grew up in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in English. She attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania for her VMD. Her veterinary interests include emergency and critical care, cardiology and soft tissue surgery. Outside of work she loves to spend time with her husband Ben and twins Nathan and Elise. She also enjoys reading fiction novels, traveling internationally and playing the guitar and piano. She has 1 dog named Sandy. Dr. Sung loves to watch HGTV, especially the House Hunters series!
Cyndi is NJ born and raised, and has been in the veterinary profession for over 19 years. She is currently a surgery technician with our friends at Animerge, and kindly spends some of her free time helping out at our practice. When not working, Cyndi loves to cook, be on the beach, working out at the gym, singing and driving her jeep with her boxer Jamie and cat Chai are her copilots.
